The Cool@Work project aimed to make employees more aware of alcohol. This was a major change in the culture of the time, which was not embraced by the employees without a struggle. It took a lot of communication and persuasion to get everyone on board. I asked Loes if she wanted to come to HNB to carry out the project. Loes was well established in the Supply Chain organisation. That was a great help, because she knew how things worked. Loes performed her function, which was not easy, with enthusiasm. As a self-starter she did a great deal to make the project a success. It required a lot of organisation and perseverance. Loes had to consult with many people who were higher up in the hierarchy and with whom she had no functional connection. Because of her pleasant and decisive way of working, she always succeeded. Loes was also responsible for the internal communication of this project and she represented Heineken Nederland (by far the largest operating company within Heineken NV and frontrunner for this project) at Heineken International conferences and workshops. As the person responsible for the budget, she always made sure that the work was done within budget. Some of Loes’ qualities: a self-starter, independent, hard-working, relaxed, full of humour, committed and flexible. It has been a great pleasure to work with Loes!
